Personal Statement

I have worked in the Education sector since 2002 and have been a teacher at Moorcroft Wood Primary School since 2005. During my time here, I have had the pleasure of working across different key stages and have taken on various roles such as Teaching and Learning lead, English lead, Reading lead, as well as organising CPD for all staff and providing support as an Induction tutor to our ECT’s.

I am so proud to be part of the Senior Leadership team here and very passionate about fulfilling our schools vision, by providing the best possible opportunities for all of our children. I am also eager to see Moorcroft continue on its journey from strength to strength and will continue to work hard to support colleagues in providing the best possible outcomes for all of our pupils. I am so proud to work as part of an excellent team of teachers and teaching assistants, together with a very proactive governing body which support, understand and have a clear vision of the values and ethos of our school.

It is a pleasure and a privilege to be the Assistant Head of such a fabulous school and I aim to bring my knowledge and expertise in teaching and learning to maximise all opportunities for our children.

Mrs J.Wakelam - Acting Head of School

I have been in education and a qualified teacher for over 16 years and have taught in Sandwell, Worcestershire, Dudley and now Walsall.  During my time in education, I have had the pleasure of working across different key stages and have taught every year group in the primary phase.  Similarly, I have held various leadership roles throughout my career in education and have strategically led a variety of subjects including Maths, Science and English; writing being a tremendous passion of mine.

I have two children of my own that keep me feeling young and challenge me every day; I think being a mother is a far harder job than being a teacher!  My philosophy stems from giving every child the very best and if I feel it's good enough for my children then it's good enough for the children at Moorcroft Wood. I feel so privileged to work with the children and staff and feel so lucky to be able to see children flourish from the very moment they enter the school.  The outdoor environment at Moorcroft Wood is second to none and we utilise it to its full effect.  Why don’t you come and see what we’re all about; the Moorcroft family will be ready to greet you with open arms.  It really is a very special place.
