Good Morning Year 3
Well done for another fantastic zoom lesson yesterday, we’re so impressed with the effort you’re all putting in and how hard you are working! We also loved seeing the work you sent us on Class Dojo 🙂
For those children who are coming into school today please complete all of the activities below expect for the English or Maths, we will be doing these together in the classroom. If you’re learning from home today please complete the activities below.
In English we would like you to complete a comprehension from book 1, the text is called ‘The Secret History of Tom Trueheart’ and is on page 25. We would like you to read the text twice and then underline any key words or phrases that you do not understand. You could then use a dictionary, the internet or ask an adult to help you find the meaning of those words. When you have done this please read each question carefully and write your answers in full sentences and make sure they are punctuated correctly.
In Maths today we will be completing the fractions activities on pages 28 and 29. The first activity is all about counting in tenths. Tenths come from splitting a whole into ten equal parts, two tenths can be written as 2/10, you will see that 2 out of the 10 parts have been shaded. The next activity is all about equivalent fractions. Equivalent fractions are two or more fractions that have the same value, even though they have different numerators (top number) and denominators (bottom number).
For example:
1/2, 2/4 and 8/16 are all the same so they are called equivalent fractions.
We would love for you to make some music today too 🙂 in the link below you will see how easy it is to make music from objects that you can find in your home or garden. There is also a link which explains how to make a jar xylophone, it’s quick, easy and lots of fun. So please watch the video and have fun making some music. We would love to see what music instruments you create with everyday objects so please send us pictures and videos of you playing your instrument too. Have fun!

Make sure you get yourself moving today and join in with Joe Wicks’ PE lesson or maybe you could be the PE teacher and get everyone else in your house up and moving.
When you’re reading today please try and spot some of the new punctuation that we’ve been learning about such a colons, bullet points and dashes.
Have a wonderful day and as always we’re here to help and support so please do get in touch. We can’t wait to see some of you at school later on, please bring your Maths CGP workbook with you as well as your English Comprehension book 1.
Have fun and stay safe.
