So that

Conjunctions join two sentences together. Today we will use a new conjunction, "so that."

We use this conjunction to explain and give a reason, for example:

A giant has strong arms so that it can lift up boulders.

To explain the reason why a giant has strong arms, we can use the conjunction "so that" to inform our reader "why" in the second sentence.

Ghosts are nearly invisible so that they can scare people.

To scare people is the reason why ghosts are nearly invisible so the conjunction "so that" is really useful here.

See if you can match the correct reason to each of these sentences using "so that."

Mission 1

Choose 1 animal either from the options above or one of your own.

Write at least 3 sentences to describe their features.

Use the conjunction “so that” to explain the reason for that feature.

Challenge

Start one of your sentences with “Amazingly,”

Aim to use some exciting adjectives.

Turns and direction

In this lesson, we will build on from yesterday's lesson by describing what type of turn has happened by comparing the before and after pictures.

Here we can see the car has made a one quarter turn right.

The crewmate has made a half (or two quarter) turn to the left.

The house has made a one quarter turn left however...

If we consider turning in the opposite direction, we can describe the turn as a three quarter turn to the right. Both are considered correct as both have the house in the same final position.
