Mr Gilbey reads…

09.00 – 10.00

Maths

We will start with a Zoom call at 9am for the first 15 minutes (details have been sent on Class Dojo and Teacher to Parent). Please attend if possible.

If not, everything you need to complete the activity is below

What better way to start our Lockdown learning than practising our column addition and column subtraction skills.

Firstly let’s not forget some of our rules…

  • Layout layout layout!
  • Be sure to pay attention to the operation because I may have been a little bit naughty and mixed the questions up!
  • Don’t forget to include the exchanges in the additions.
  • And of course our saying for subtractions of “if it’s bigger on the floor….” ?

How many questions can you answer before the end of the lesson?

10.15 – 11.15

DT

In our last DT lesson you looked at different photo frames and discussed what you liked about each (the image can be seen below).

Well today I want you to start thinking about one that we can make when we return to school.

Below is a photo frame template that you can print off and start designing one of your own. If you have not got access to a printer, draw a rectangle or square and draw a pattern round the edge. Would you like to draw your favourite thing? Maybe use lots of your favourite colour? Let your imagination run wild and remember, when we get back to school, we will try and make them.

11.15 – 12.15

English

We will again start with a Zoom call at 11.15am for the first 15 minutes (details the same as the earlier call in Maths) if you can join us.

I thought it would be nice for us to write a book review today on either the book you are reading now OR a favourite book you may have read before.

Attached is a book review to complete if you have a printer. If you do not, please answer the below questions about your chosen book…

PLOT

What happens? Did you find the plot interesting?

CHARACTERS

Who are the main characters? Who was your favourite character?

YOUR OPINION

Did you like the books? What was your favourite part?

RECOMMEND

Would you recommend this book to someone? Why or why not?

You could also draw me your own front cover, that would be amazing.

1.00pm – 1.20pm

Reading

Find yourself a nice comfortable spot, be it on a sofa or on some cushions on the floor or under your bed and have some quiet reading time with your book.

1.20pm – 2.20pm

Maths fluency

Today’s number is…. 356.

Please have a look at the attached and complete all the questions for the number 356.

If you have not got a printer, can you answer the below questions.

Can you write 356 in words?

Can you give me a number that is < than and another number that is > than?

How many ones does it have? How many tens? How many hundreds?

What is 100 more and 100 less?

Can you answer these questions with your own number?

2.20pm – 2.45pm

Mr Gilbey reads…

I know how much we were all enjoying Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and it would be a shame to stop this for two weeks. Therefore at this time everyday, jump onto Zoom and you can listen to me read some more of our Class Read. Zoom details are the same as the previous two calls, and were sent to your adult on Class Dojo and Teacher to Parent so come along if possible!
