Good Morning Year 3!
A fantastic day yesterday as always. If you are coming to school today please hold off from completing the English and Maths. You will need to bring your Maths and Comprehension book 1 with you please. We are really looking forward to our zoom lesson from school today.
In English today we would like you to get your comprehension book 1 out and complete pages 28 and 29. Remember to read the text twice before looking at the questions. Once you have read the text twice move on to the questions and highlight or underline the answers in the text. When you write your answers try to write in full sentences.
During our zoom lesson we are going to be looking at Maths today so if you are joining us on Zoom please hold off on this part. If you cannot make it on to Zoom solving fraction problems in your CPG Maths book on pages 36 to 37.
For some of the questions you will need to turn the question into a fraction.
For example:
Shanteah-Rose had 8 pencil crayon and 3 of these are red. Write how many are red as a fraction.
To solve this we need to find the whole to use as our denominator (number on the bottom. The denominator in this question will be 8. We know 3 of the crayons are red and this will become our numerator (number on the top. The answer as a fraction will look like:
3/8.
You will also need to solve questions by finding a fraction of an amount.
For example:
Rose has £10. She spends 1/5 of her money on a pencil and ½ on a pen.
How much does the pencil cost?
To find out how much the pencil cost we need to first divide the whole amount by the denominator (number on the bottom) and times it by the numerator (on the top). This would look like:
1/5
£10 ÷ 5 = 2
2 x 1 = 2
The pencil cost £2
To find the cost of the pen we need to divide the whole amount by 2 and times by 1. This would look like:
½
£10 ÷ 2 = 5
5 x 1 = 5
The pen cost £5.
We would also like you to complete a sheet about 5 things you want to do this summer. Briefly right down the 5 things you want to do and then draw a picture of each. This could be anything from reading 4 books to seeing family members. We have attached a sheet above on our Class Dojo and on our class page. You have worked so hard this year and not being at school has been so difficult for us all so let’s make the summer fun!
Remember your daily exercise too. We have attached a Super Movers video about greetings in Spanish. Great revision and exercise all in one. Get the whole family involved.

Please could you also try and read for 5 to 10 minutes today. Maybe read something you have never read before today.
If you require any help or assistance please do not hesitate to contact us on the Class Dojo page or on our school Facebook page.
Remember there are Dojo points up for grabs for every picture we see of completed work and points for going above and beyond by completing extra tasks.
Have a brilliant day and stay safe
