You will need your counting objects from yesterday and your two tens frames please.
Today we will be adding two numbers together today. Instead of counting each object or counting on, we will use a quicker strategy to find the total. We will add the two parts together by putting our objects into the tens frames we created yesterday. Once our counters or objects are in the tens frames, we will be able to see the group of ten and the extra ones left over. We can then apply our learning from yesterday to find the total.
Task 1:
Add the parts of the following questions by putting your objects into your tens frames. Make sure you fill the first tens frame before you begin to fill the second. Once you have put your two parts in, find your group of ten and add on what is left to find the total.
Challenge Task 2:
These part whole models have the total but only one part. Can you find the missing part? Can you work out the difference between the whole and the part that you know.

The days of the week each have a name and so also need a capital letter. One of my favourite stories about the days of the week is "The very hungry caterpillar" by Eric Carle. Remind yourself of the story here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=75NQK-Sm1YY
Today we will be recreating our own version of the story, pretending we are the very hungry caterpillar.
Task 1:
Plan out what food you would eat on each day of the week. Write down the day using capital letters in your blue writing book and then draw your food choices.
Task 2:
Choose three of your favourite days and write your sentences using our colourful grid. Remember that we are pretending to be the very hungry caterpillar so we will use the word "I" to describe ourselves in the role.
Your sentence might look a little like this:
On Monday I ate four cakes.
On Tuesday I ate three chickens.
On Thursday I ate six sweet apples.
Remember to use capital letters for the name of each day as well as for the word "I" as you will be writing in the role of the very hungry caterpillar.
