Good Morning Year 3!
Another great day of hard work. You are all fantastic! We can’t wait to see you all again at 1pm today on Zoom.
To help you with your English today we would like to complete some physical exercise today about conjunctions. We have attached a link for Super Movers. Get moving and learning at the same time.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers/ks2-english-conjunctions-with-laura-bubble/zv4hd6f
In English today we would like you to get your new English book out and complete pages 24 and 25 on conjunctions. Remember we use conjunctions to join two main clauses (sentences) together to make the text easier to read. A conjunction can be and, because, or, so, but just to name a few.
For example:
Georgia could play outside. She could play inside.
Using a conjunction, we are using or, this sentence would become
Georgia could play outside or she could play inside.
We are going to be completing Maths today on our zoom lesson so if you are joining us please hold off this part. If you cannot make it today we would like you to look at estimating and checking in your CGP books on page 25. Remember estimate means to make a calculated guess.
To estimate and check you will need to first round up the question to the nearest 10.
For example:
21 + 49 = ?
This would become
20 + 50 = ?
This will then allow you to estimate accurately to the answer.
To check an answer you will need to be able to use the inverse. Inverse is the opposite function to the one you have used.
For example:
50 ÷ 2 = 25
The inverse to divide is multiplication. To check the answer above the inverse would look like:
25 x 2 = 50
The inverse to add is subtract.
We would also like you to complete some Science today. In Science we are continuing our topic of ‘Plants’ and today we are going to be looking at the life cycle of a flowering plant. We have attached a PowerPoint presentation on our class page with a structure to follow. Once you have read the PowerPoint then click on the worksheet for life cycle of a flowering plant on our class page.
Please could you also read for 5-10 minutes today. Try and identify all the conjunctions that you can in your book.
If you require any help or assistance please do not hesitate to contact us on the Class Dojo page or on our school Facebook page.
Remember there are Dojo points up for grabs for every picture we see of completed work and points for going above and beyond by completing extra tasks.
Have an amazing day and stay safe.
