Activity Suggestions for Today
Phonics and Literacy
Ruth Miskin is delivering a speed sounds lesson on her Youtube channel at 9.30am. The programme developed by Ruth Miskin (RWI) is the one that the children will use in Reception. It teaches children sounds and blending skills that are vital for reading.
Have a go at writing lower case ‘y’ on Tuesday. See the video below. It is good to see that
so many of you are trying so hard with your writing. For Wednesday try to write 'z'.
Play the letter matching game from Phonics Play. When you click the link you will have to login to access the games. If you click the login button where it asks for an email type 'march20' and in the password box type 'home'. You will then be able to access all of the games.
You may want to visit ‘Teach Your Monster to Read’. This is an interactive game/app that can be downloaded to a computer for free. Choose the Reception/Pre-Kindergarten section 1 to learn sounds and when children become confident with these, move on to section 2 ‘Fun with Words’.
Enjoy this week’s series of English lessons from Oak Academy. The lesson for Tuesday is called ‘Jack and the Beanstalk.’ On Wednesday the lesson continues to plot a story map of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Remember to keep trying to write your name. Little and often is the best way to learn / remember how to do it.
Maths
Visit the maths game – have a go and see how well you can do.
Tuesday's maths lesson from Oak Academy is all about exploring one more and one less.
Wednesday's lesson is all about finding ways to make 10 and 20.
Sing the counting to 20 song.
Use the song below to learn the days of the week.
Arts, Crafts and Understanding of the World
The lessons from Oak Academy for Tuesday and Wednesday are all about transport. Explore the lessons. You may wish to make your own vehicle using building kits. Maybe you could make a car, boat, aeroplane or even a space rocket.
Physical Development
The PE lessons by Joe Wicks can be accessed on You Tube. I know that many of you have been enjoying these. They are a great work out to get you active.
Visit the link below to check out the latest from the Boogie Beebies.
Story Time
Listen to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. This relates to the lesson from Oak Academy for English.
