Our timetable for the day is above which will show you when each lesson will be. We will stick to these video times for the forseeable which should help you plan your day around this.
We will continue with the 3 video lessons a day, there will be 15 minutes of input and then the rest of the time will be your own to go and do the activities.
Please send your work into me via Dojo, Google Classroom or email (joakley@theatlasfederation.co.uk).
We will be marking this work and using it as proof of attendance for each day.
Feel free to watch newsround each day to keep in touch with what is going on in the world.
Maths
Today we are continuing to look at algebra.
Whenever you see a letter it algebra, it simply means that the letter is a missing number. I always find it easier to simply say "something" than use the letter as it makes it less confusing. E.g. Rather than saying "x - 5 = 10", I would say "something - 5 = 10."
So most basic phrases like the one above we've actually been solving since Years 1 & 2, but there are some trickier elements added in now we are in Year 6. So for example, if we are asked the following quesion, this is how we would work it out.
3x = 21
Well we know that 3x means 3 lots of x. So this means 3 x "something" = 21. Well I know my three times tables so if divide 21 by 3, I will find out what X if worth. 21 dividied by 3 is 7. So x is worth 7.
3x - 10 = 5
So slightly harder but just 2 steps still. We know that 3x means 3 lots of "something". So this actually reads as 3 lots of something, take away 10 gives us 5. So the first thing we can do is add 10 to our 5 to work out what 3 lots of something equals. 10 + 5 = 15 so 3x = 15. Then (like we did above), divide 15 by 3 to find what 1x is worth which would be 5.

English
I'm going to go through some comprehension in our Google Classroom Meeting. Make sure you are logged in and ready to write by 10:20am as we will again only have 15 minutes of live video. You will need your plain exercise book ready with something to write with.
We will complete pages Page 20/21 (Poems about World War One) & Page 22/23 (Moonfleet by J. Meade Falkner) of your CGP Comprehension Book TWO.
RE
Key Question: Is anything ever eternal?
Title: What is Heaven like?
Mrs Riley has set us our RE work as usual today. Look at the questions to discuss with an adult at home:
What is love? What types are there? What have we learnt about love from the Bible readings last week?
Jesus taught that love should be eternal and unconditional. Is this possible?
What is heaven and hell? Where is Heaven? What do you think it could be like? Christians believe they will see Jesus when they die and go to heaven.
Watch the video clip below of one person’s interpretation of Heaven from a child's perspective. Is it how you see it?
People have different perceptions of what Heaven looks like.
Activity: Draw a picture of what you think Heaven looks like and label it.
Reading with Mr O
Log back into Google Classroom for a live reading of our class reader "Blitzed" by Robert Swindells. We're read the first 4 chapters and will soon find out about George's antics on his street!
Make sure you are logged in by 12:50pm to ensure you don't miss any of the story!
Art
Right, having now designed a real range of pieces, we're going to create our final piece of art.
Get 3 - 4 objects from the kitchen (or your shoes) and line them up to create a scene. Make sure you have a blank background to make it easier. Remember to arrange your design in an interesting way so that you can see all of the most detailed sections.
Have a look at the video below for some guidance. You can add colours for effect if you wish, or keep it shaded in - your choice for impact.
Reading for Pleasure
Finally, lets sign off the day with 20 minutes of reading your school reader or a book that you are enjoying. Send a photo of your signed reading record through to me.
Well done for today everyone! See you bright and early at 8:40am on Google Meets! And don't forget to send all of your work through to me on Dojo, email or Google Classroom.
