If you do not have a printer then read the text on the laptop and use the blue English book to write the answers to the questions in full sentences. The comprehension can be found in the resources section of the class webpage.

Maths

In Maths today we will be continuing with the topic of fractions and will be learning how to find a fraction of an amount. Before the online lessons starts at 9:55 you will need a piece of paper and a pencil to allow you to answer the questions during the lesson.

By the end of the lesson you will be able to answer questions such as ¾ of 20. To work out the answer you will need to draw 4 circles.

You need to draw 4 because the denominator (the number at the bottom of the fraction which tells us how many pieces we have in total) is 4. Once you have drawn 4 circles you need to share 20 out equally. The word equally means that everyone must be exactly the same.

Once you have shared 20 out equally you then need to count 3 of the 4 circles, we know that you need to count 3 of them because the question is asking what is ¾ of 20.

There are 5 in each of the circles so ¾ of 20 must be 15.

We would like you to have a go at answering the questions below, please make sure you show all of your working out.

2/3 of 9

¾ of 12

1/5 of 15

2/4 of 16

1/3 of 18

2/5 of 25

2/3 of 21

¾ of 28

¼ of 12

2/3 of 6

English

Today in English we are going to be making simple additions, revisions and corrections to our diary entries that we have been writing. One of the steps that we must take when producing our very best writing is to proof read and check what we have been writing. Often when we are writing we get carried away and make little mistakes, these can be missing capital letters, basic spelling errors and forgetting punctuation. During our online lesson we will be looking at an example of a dairy entry together and highlighting some of the errors and working together to correct them.

Look at the sentence below and spot the mistakes that have been made.

The sentence should read:

Max is digging in the soil.

Can you find the mistakes in this next sentence?

Well done you have found the mistakes. The sentence should say:

Amy and her friends went to a football party.

When the online lesson has finished we would like you to read one of your diary entries and make any corrections and revisions to make your writing even better. We would then like you to download the ‘Fix the Sentence’ sheet from the class webpage and make the alterations to all of the sentences, be careful because there are some difficult ones in there to trick you.

12:25 – 1:25

RE

Today in RE we will be learning more about the story of Passover. We know that Moses warned the Pharaoh that if he did not free the Jewish people God would send 10 plagues to Egypt. Pharaoh did not listen to Moses which is why the 10 plagues were sent with the last plague being death. We would like you to click on the link below and read recap the story of Passover and once you have done that scroll down the page and read all about the 10 plagues.

10 Plagues

Once you have read all about the plagues we would like you to write a diary entry as if you were Pharaoh and the 10 plagues had just passed through Egypt, remember that during the 10 plagues Pharaoh’s own child was killed. In your diary entry you need to include information about thoughts, feelings and emotions.
