TThursday 21st May 2020 – Friday 22nd May 2020
Hi everyone,
I hope you are all well. As I am sure you have seen, school is preparing to reopen to children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 from 1st June. At the moment, there is no plan to reopen school to Nursery children but this will be reviewed on a weekly basis and you will be informed if/when this changes. In the mean time I will continue to post suggestions for home learning on the web page. In order to prepare for the return of Reception children I will be in school tomorrow so have posted suggestions for today and tomorrow in one entry.
I can be contacted on class dojo or by emailing EYFS@theatlasfederation.co.uk
Thank you once again for all your hard work and messages.
Kind Regards,
Mr Leese
Activity Suggestions
Ruth Miskin is delivering a speed sounds lesson on her Youtube channel at 9.30am. The programme developed by Ruth Miskin (RWI) is the one that the children will use in Reception. It teaches children sounds and blending skills that are vital for reading.
Revise writing of single letter sounds. The video links to the Epic Phonics that I have been using to demonstrate the writing of the letters can be found below. I have also included a link to the RWI writing chart which we use in school.
Play the game below to help with the quick recall of letter sounds.
You may want to visit ‘Teach Your Monster to Read’. This is an interactive game/app that can be downloaded to a computer for free. Choose the Reception/Pre-Kindergarten section 1 to learn sounds and when children become confident with these, move on to section 2 ‘Fun with Words’.
