Word puzzle
Please see today’s letter puzzle...
How many words can you make?
Can you spot the 9 letter word?
Remember, why not write the letters out in a different order as that often help you see words you may not have originally seen. Then why not write them out again in a new order to find even more words.
Give it a go and bring your list of words with you to the 9.25 video call.

Maths – Perimeter word problems.
Google Classroom video call at 09.25am for the first 15 minutes.
Before we arrive at “Four Rules Friday” I thought we could spend today’s lesson on answering perimeter word problems.
Now I have complete confidence after the last couple of days that if I gave you a shape, you would be able to calculate its perimeter.
However as you know, reading and understanding word problems is the next level of difficulty.
Therefore to assist you in answering today’s word problems I want you to…
Let’s do one together…
Amelia is going to walk around her garden.
If her garden is a triangle with sides of 12 meters, 16 meters and 21 meters
how far will Amelia walk?
By following the above steps, I’ve…
Step 1) Read the question twice.
Step 2 and 3) I then sketch the shape describe in the question and add the lengths to it.
Step 4) Then use my addition skills to find out the perimeter.

EXTENSION CHALLENGE
After answers the attached word problems, why not write your own question or two for everyone to answer when we get back to school.
Was there one question you particularly enjoyed?
Why not show off your knowledge on 2D shapes and base your question on a ‘pentagon’ (can you remember how many sides a pentagon have? How many fingers could you hold a PEN with?)
10.40 – 11.05
English – creative writing.
Reading your sentences about our daily image, seeing how you all write about different things, is fast becoming the highlight of my day.
Therefore please see today’s image below and an opening line to inspire your writing...
Most people don’t believe in them.
Especially grown-ups.
Can you carry on this story?
If that is a normal size boot, who is rowing? If there are people rowing, how small must they be?
Over to you…
11.05 – 12.00
English – Writing our fiction story.
Google Classroom video call at 11.05am for the first 15 minutes.
Join us at 11.05 call today as I want to share some more of your amazing stories with you.
Today we are going to do some lovely little bits to finish off our story.
Therefore work through the steps below to finish our story
Task 1 – finish writing your story.
Some people need a little more time to finish writing their stories, so please use this time if needed.
Task 2 – editing your story.
If you have finished writing your story, have you completed an edit? Remember the best way to check your writing is to read your story aloud to someone. Just be sure to read what you have ACTUALLY written, not what you THINK you have written.
Also you should only take a breath when you reach a full stop. So if you find yourself running out of breath whilst reading, that means you need some extra full stops.
Task 3 – create a front cover for your story
Your stories are so amazing they deserve their own front cover.
Use the rest of this lesson to draw your own front cover. This needs to include a picture of your main character, a title and the name of the author (you). Also remember, someone is more likely to pick up and read your story if the front cover is very colourful!
1.00pm – 1.20pm
Quiet Reading Time
How are you getting on with the new Bug Club Reading Scheme? I have dealt with all of the log in issues so you should now be able to get in and select the book of your choice. If you are still to log in please follow the below link for instructions.
As I mentioned yesterday, please do not rush through these books just so you can say you have completed them. Much like your present reading books, we would expect you to read them multiple times before going onto your next one.
1.20pm – 2.20pm
PE
Time to get your heart rate up with some exercise.
Much like earlier in the week, please choose a workout that you enjoy from either PE With Joe, Cosmic Yoga, or there are always BBC Super movers.
Then in the time remaining have a go at today’s challenge. I really enjoyed seeing some of your attempts of the ‘Toilet Roll Challenge’ and I think this one is even better so please ask an adult to send me some pictures of your attempts. Most (if not all of you) will fall trying this one so please ensure you try it on carpet and have plenty of space around you.
2.20pm – 2.35pm
Mr Gilbey reads The World’s Worst Teacher…
I am quite relieved to have finished the chapter about Doctor Dread and Bog… they made my stomach turn.
Come and join us at 2.20pm to be introduced to the next World’s Worst Teacher!
AND FINALLY… don’t forget Friday’s YEAR 3 AND 4 CLASS CHALLENGE at 2.20pm!
