Art Reading for Pleasure

Our timetable for the day is above which will show you when each lesson will be. We will stick to these video times for the forseeable which should help you plan your day around this.

We will continue with the 3 video lessons a day, there will be 15 minutes of input and then the rest of the time will be your own to go and do the activities.

Please send your work into me via Dojo, Google Classroom or email (joakley@theatlasfederation.co.uk).

We will be marking this work and using it as proof of attendance for each day.

Google Classroom

Our video calls will be conducted via Google Classroom.

Therefore please see below the written steps from the video above.

  1. Go to classroom.google.com on your web browser (ideally Chrome) - if you are using a tablet or phone, simply download the Google Meet app.
  2. Click on "Go To Classroom"
  3. Enter your child's username and password from the slips of paper in your packs
  4. Enter our Year 6 classroom by clicking on "6O".
  5. Finally click on 'Meet Link' at the top of the page and you will be put straight into our video calls - if it says the video hasn't been started, just keeping refreshing the page as it means I (as the teacher) haven't started the call yet but I will do by the alloted time slot!

Any questions, please message me - I am available all day on Dojo, Facebook Messenger, Google Classroom or the email address above.

Feel free to watch newsround each day to keep in touch with what is going on in the world.

Maths

Having looked at how to multiply & divide by 10, 100 & 1000 this week, we are going to look at when we are most likely to use this in our lives: converting between units of measurements.

Remember, the following facts:

1l = 1000ml

1kg = 1000kg

1m = 100cm

1cm = 10mm

So if I have a sunflower that is 214cm tall and I want to know how tall it is in metres, I would divide 214cm by 100 (as there are 100cm in each metre) to give me the height: 2.14m

Use the website below for any guidance.

Maths Help - Converting Units of Length

Learn how to convert units of length. In this lesson "themathstutor" shows you the simple steps to convert mm to cm to m to km. COMING SOON http://www.themat...

Complete the table in Google Classroom using the grid we have used all week.

English

I'm going to go through some comprehension in our Google Classroom Meeting. Make sure you are logged in and ready to write by 10:20am as we will again only have 15 minutes of live video. You will need your plain exercise book ready with something to write with.

We will complete pages Page 8/9 (The Lost Diary of Snow White by Boyd Bent) & Page 10/11 (The Yellow Train) of you CGP Comprehension Book TWO.

RE

What is eternity?

Mrs Riley has set us our RE work as usual today. I have uploaded the instructions and the work to complete on Google Classroom. Log in and have a look on there.

Reading with Mr O

Log back into Google Classroom for a live reading of our class reader "Blitzed" by Robert Swindells. We're read the first 4 chapters and will soon find out about George's antics on his street!

Make sure you are logged in by 12:50pm to ensure you don't miss any of the story!

Art

Carrying on with our Still Life work, we are today going to look at drawing crockery or items from our kitchens (e.g. plates, jars, bottles etc).

Again, have a look on the videos below for guidance on drawing these sort of items. I was very impressed last time so looking forward to how we get on today!

Grab 2 (or more) different objects from your kitchen (e.g. plate and ketchup bottle). We're going to sketch it out. Make sure there is a plain background behind it to help you notice the detail. Take your time with lots of little faint lines to create your image. First draw the outline of the object, before moving into adding in the detail of it before finally thinking about the shadows/scuff marks that are the finer detail of it.

You don't have to colour it in but you may want to add shading to show the lighter and darker parts of the shoe.

Obviously this jar has fireflies in but you could change this easily enought to add your own details!
