Once children begin to gain confidence in writing letters and have learnt some of their set 1 sounds, they can begin to spell words. The parent video on spelling shows you how we use 'Fred fingers' to teach children to spell words in school.
Again, this does not always have to be done using pencil and paper, there are lots of creative ways in which you can practise spelling. The children in Reception love to use magnetic letters. If you have any at home, they could spell words using these on the fridge or freezer. Foam letters in the bath are another great way to practise spelling words and names.
However you choose to practise your spellings, the most important thing is to have fun!
