Our sound for today is…. z
As I said to many of you yesterday, you have all done so well with your sounds! We just have a couple of set 1 single letter sounds left to recap before we begin to learn our new special friend sounds.
Take your pick from a range of ways to practise the sound 'z' today. If you would like to continue with your RWI lessons on YouTube please feel free to do so using the link below. If you prefer, tune into the Alphablocks to practise the sound ‘z’. Or why not watch Geraldine practise her ‘z’ sound and then go on a hunt around the house for things beginning with this sound.
Once you have practised saying and reading the sound ‘z’, see if you can have a go at reading the words below. Remember to use your Fred talk to help you.
zap
zip
zig
zag
Can you now have a go at spellings these words? You might like to use your sound cards or magnetic letters or maybe write your spellings in flour, shaving foam or sugar.
Again, I mentioned to many of you yesterday our next step after half term will be to begin to write short sentences and I will show you how we teach children to 'Hold a Sentence' in school. If you would like a challenge today, can you write a short sentence about the picture below. It can be as simple as, 'Zip it up'. That way you can use your Fred fingers to pinch on the sounds and write the sentence down. Let me know if any of you try out the challenge today.
