We haven’t squiggled and wiggled for a while so why not warm ourselves up for the day ahead with this fantastic motor skill activity. Working on our gross and fine motor skills helps to strengthen the muscles in our arms and hands so that we can become super writers.
Reception know how this works but just as a reminder - first you will need to grab yourself two ‘flipper flappers’ (these can be two pieces of kitchen towel, tissues, napkins, dusters, whatever you can find that is similar). Hold one in each hand. Next choose a song (Dance Monkey, George Ezra – Shotgun, Under the Sea and I just can’t wait to be King are some of our favourites). Make circles, lines and arches to the music using your flipper flappers. Once you have done this, replay the song again, but this time, make the same motions on a piece of paper with two crayons. Have fun!
