Good Morning!

We hope you have had a wonderful half term. You deserved a good rest after all of that super work.

8:50 – 9.30

History

Today we will be starting our new topic all about ‘The Victorians’.

The Victorian era lasted from 20 June 1837 to 22 January 1901. During this time Queen Victoria reigned and she became Queen at just 18 years old.

Today we would like you to learn all about Queen Victoria. We have attached a PowerPoint of information on our class page.

Once you have read the PowerPoint please complete the fact file, you can re- write it in your blue book if you do not have a printer, which is also on our class page.

9.30-9.55

RWI

Your first task for today is to complete the RWI lesson for Set 3 sound ‘oa’. Click on the link below and select Set 3 sound ‘oa’ lesson.

Make sure you click on Set 3 sounds on the playlists and then on Set 3 speed sounds with Rosie. When you have finished watching the Set 3 sound video please feel free to watch the Set 3 spelling video too.

We would like you to compete the activity in the table below. Make sure you use the correct colour book which we text out yesterday. Click on the book title to take you to the book on Oxford Owls.

9.55-10.55

Maths

In Maths today we will start a new unit of 3D shapes.

3D shapes have 3 dimensions: faces (the flat or curved sides), vertices (the corners where edges meet) and edges. The 3 dimensions of 3D shapes are measured by length, width and depth. Common 3D shapes include cubes and pyramids.

Today we are going to learn all about the properties of 3D shapes.

Let’s have a look at a cube.

To work out how many faces it has we need to count all of the flat (2D sides).

A cube has 6 faces.

To count the edges we need to count all of the straight line (sides of the shape).

A cube has 12 edges.

To count the vertices we need to count where the edges meet (the corners).

On our class page we would like you to complete the properties worksheet first then the 3D shape spaghetti worksheet.

10.55 – 11.10

Break

11.10 – 11.35

Times table Practise

Today we would like you to go to the link below and play ‘Hit the Button’. Remember to concentrate on your 2, 5 and 10 times tables and that you are confident before moving on to any of the others.

11.35 – 12.25

English

In English today we would like you to get your comprehension book out and complete page 20-21. We will be looking at and completing page 18-19 on our Google Classroom session.

Remember in class we read the text twice before looking at the questions. Once you have read the text twice move on to the questions and highlight or underline the answers in the text.

When you write your answers, try to write in full sentences and use capital letters and full stops.

12.25 – 1.25

Lunch

1.25 – 2.05 (this task will continue at 2.20)

Science

This afternoon we are going to be starting a new topic in Science all about plants.

Today we are going to concentrate on how different seeds grow into different plants.

First we want you to read through the flip chart on our class page.

Once you have read through the flip chart we would like you to click on the plant worksheet on our class page. Here you will find a fact sheet and you have to pick two plants and write all about them, from seed to harvest.

After you have completed the sheet have a look at what plants you can see from your house.

2.05 – 2.15

Another opportunity for us to read more of our favourite story.

2.15 – 2.45

Science – Finish the task from earlier.

2.45 – 3.05

We now have access to Bug Club. This allows you to read a variety of books at the correct book band you are on at school. We have allocated your book bands but once you have read all of the books within your current book band it will automatically move you up to the next one. We can’t wait to see how many book bands you move up.

Remember to start each story by using the read to me button and then read the story yourself. After each story make sure you answer the questions at the back of the book to help with your comprehension skills.
