This week we are exploring all of the different ways we can express ourselves, and all of the creative ways we can share our feelings, our thoughts, and our ideas.
Watch the video below to see how we don't have to be the best at something or put on a performance for people. Its all about finding a way to show how you are feeling that can help you feel good about yourself.

I love playing with my children and reading a good book. These activities make me feel calm and relaxed and are a great way for me to use my imagination.

Recap some of the material properties with have explored so far. Can you find any objects around your home to match them?
Today we will be thinking about why a material has been chosen to make an object. We will explain by thinking about which properties of the material make it useful for the job.
Why is a house made out of brick?
Houses have to be sturdy and strong so they don’t fall down. Bricks are perfect for houses because they are hard, rigid and tough. They won’t move in the wind and they don’t let rain water into the house because they are waterproof.
Why are clothes made out of fabric?
Clothes have to be comfortable and they have to let us move. Fabric is flexible and stretchy so we can move our arms and legs without being stopped. If clothes were made out of wood or stone it would be very difficult to move!
Why is a table made out of wood?
Tables have to be hard and sturdy. Wood is a good material for tables because it will not stretch or bend when you lean on it. Wood is also lighter than stone or glass and usually much cheaper as well. Can you imagine a table made out of elastic?
Task 1:
Find 3 objects from around your home. Think about what materials they are made from. Explain which properties of each material are useful for the object to be able to do its job.
Task 2:
Discuss the following sentences. Are they a good idea? Choose 2 sentences that are not a good idea and explain why.
Think back to the assembly video this morning. Draw a picture of yourself. Around the picture, write down up to 5 ways you like to express yourself. Do you like reading, drawing, dancing or singing? Share with me the ways you can share how you feel to make you feel happy.
Then, once you have finished. Spend some time completing as many of the things on your picture as you can!
