Perimeter
Zoom call at 9:30 for the first 15 minutes (log in details will be the same for every session). Please attend if possible.
In this lesson we are going to revisit the perimeter work we did at the start of this week.
When we are finding the perimeter you need to remember that you must add up all the measurements around the outside of the shape. You will need to use column addition for this to ensure your calculations are accurate.
If the shape is a square, make a note that all sides will exactly the same length therefore we would need to add 4 sides to find the perimeter.
If there is a missing number in the shape sometimes we are unable to use our ruler to measure them, this is where we need to look really carefully at what we already know.
10:45 – 11:45
Computing
As we have been looking at flowcharts for the past few lessons in Computing I want you to take a look at this image of a lighthouse. The light needs to function to keep the ships away from the rocks however the light only comes on when there is no sun shining in the sky.
Can you find the errors in this flowchart and draw the correct version. Think about where the loops need to be and the answers that will be given and where they would look back to.

English
Key Stage Two English Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling Year 5 Targeted Question Book – page 40 and 41
Zoom call at 11.45am for the first 15 minutes (log in details the same as this morning). Please attend if possible.
Time for English
Recently, I have noticed that we keep forgetting to use our commas particularly in a list. We are going to focus on this during the lesson today so make sure you have your punctuation heads ready.
When we are using commas in a list remember that they separate each item however when we reach the last item in a list we use and instead of the comma.
For example:
If I were to write a shopping list I would write:
From the shops I need to buy: a lemon, four tins of beans, flour and a loaf of bread.
The commas in that sentence separate each item. We need to remember to use these in our writing especially when we are listing items or features of the things we are writing about.
Once you have completed the pages in your book, follow the link below for an additional commas in a list exercise to make sure you are secure with your understanding.
1:30 – 1:50
Quiet Reading Time
Find a comfortable spot for your reading or you may want to find an unusual place for a change. Ask your adult to send me a picture of you reading in your spot or tell me where it is on Class Dojo.
Make sure you have your reading record signed by an adult at home to show that you have kept up your reading and send over a picture on Class Dojo, this will earn you more dojos.
1:50 – 2:50
Enrichment
As today is Friday and we would be doing Enrichment this afternoon we will continue this whilst you are at home. This afternoon’s tasks will have been based around friendships and kindness been as though we have celebrated this throughout the week.
For your task you have a couple of things to choose from:
1. Complete the Friendship Flower below. Take some time to write a friendship quality that you need to be a good friend and write each quality you think of on each petal. Once you have done this make it as bright and colourful as you wish.
2. Draw a picture/card to cheer someone up, you may want to send it over to someone else in class to show them what a good friend they have been recently. If you send them to me via Class Dojo I can pass them on to your chosen friend.
3. Could you carry out a task to help out your adult at home – take photos and send them over to me so I can see you being kind.
