Comparing mass using non-standard units

Please connect to Google Classrooms for a 15 minute Meet to talk you through your learning today.

https://classroom.google.com/c/MTkxMTM1MTYzNTI1?cjc=syydppc

You were incredible at comparing the two objects to find out which one was heavier or lighter than the other.

When we place objects on a balance scale and neither object goes up or down, we call the scale balanced. When the scales are balanced, each object must have the same mass, an equal mass.

How many marbles do we need to balance out the blue cube?

Task 1:

Can you find how many non-standard units are needed to balance the scales for each of these objects?

1 teddy = ___ blocks.

1 cap = ___ cubes.

1 bus = ___bricks.

1 truck = ___bricks.

Task 2:

Can you find the sentence that matches each of these objects?

Building sentences using more than one object

Please connect to Google Classrooms for a 15 minute Meet to talk you through your learning today.

https://classroom.google.com/c/MTkxMTM1MTYzNTI1?cjc=syydppc

We can build sentences using our colourful grids amazingly well. It's time we build some sentences using some suffixes to show that we have more than one of something.

The boy ate three cakes.

The girl played with her friends.

The man carried lots of boxes.

Task 1:

Use your colourful semantics cards to build up any sentence, one that makes sense or a silly one. Turn your green "what" card in to a plural by saying that you have more than one. Be sure to include the suffixes "s" or "es" to show that you have more than one! You may even chose to write your sentences in the past tense and include an "ed" suffix on your yellow "what doing" card where needed.

Write 3 sentences in your blue writing book.

Task 2:

Draw a picture to match each of your sentences to clearly show that you have more than one of something.

Golden Time

Before you dive into your fun afternoon, take a moment to reflect on all of the huge achievements you have made over the last couple of months. Grab a hot chocolate and a couple of biscuits and look through your books. Celebrate all of the amazing things you have done, even whilst learning from home!

Use this time to discuss the return to school next week and validate any worries but also reassure that it will be great to see all our friend back in person.

I will leave the Google Classroom open until 3pm so you can drop in for a face to face chat about the return to school if you feel you need it.

You have all worked incredibly hard and have spent lots of lovely time with your grown ups at home. Use this time to spend some quality time together doing something you love. Snuggling up for a film, baking, colouring or reading. It's Golden Time so the choice is all yours!
