Good Morning Year 2

Today is our final day of home learning so lets make it a brilliant one. We are so close to our dojo target of 4000 points so keep the work coming !

Joe Wicks PE Lesson

If you would rather spend your time doing another physical activity that is fine but it is really important that you do exercise during this time as our physical health is really important.

9:30 – 9:55

9:55 -10:55

Maths

Today in Maths we will be completing a Maths Mystery activity about the missing daffodils. We will need to use lots of our Maths skills that we have been working on during our time in Year 2 to answer the questions, solve the clues and find out who the thief is. There will be some addition and subtraction questions such as:

12 + __ = 20                               __ + 5 = 15

23 - __ = 15                               __ - 10 = 22

You will also need to use your times tables knowledge to find numbers that are in the 2 and 5 times tables as well as matching repeated addition number sentences to the matching times tables, for example:

3 + 3 + 3 + 3            =        3 x 4

5 + 5 + 5                  =        5 x 3

There will also be some money questions similar to the one below. You will need to count up all of the counts to work out how much money there is and then find the change from £1. Remember that there is 100 p in a £1.

You will need to download the Maths mystery activity from the resources section at the bottom of the class webpage. If you do not have a printer please complete the tasks in your yellow Maths book.

10:55 – 11:10

Break Time

11:10 – 11:35

Times Tables

You are doing so well with your times tables and we want you to keep up the fantastic effort so please take this time to practise your 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables. When you are practising your times tables please make sure that you are not doing them all in order as this will become very easy and you will remember the pattern, you need to know them in any random order such as

2 x 4 = 8

3 x 8 = 24

5 x 4 = 20

We would also like you to practise the division facts for each timetable, for example:

8 divide by 4 = 2

24 divide by 8 = 3

20 divide by 4 = 5

You can practise your times tables on hit the button, times table’s rock stars or you can ask someone at home to write some questions for you.

11:35 – 12:25

English

Today in English we will be completing an activity on page 14 of Superhero Talk for Writing booklet, please don’t worry if you do not have the booklet as you can write in your blue English book.

Superdog’s superpower is listening. What a wonderful superpower. In our lesson today we are going to create a poem all about his super listening skills.

With my special ears,

I heard a giant whispering

in his castle in the sky.

With my special ears,

I heard the oak trees talking

in a faraway forest.

What other things do you think Superdog heard with his special ears? We would like you to complete the poem on page 14 and then write your own poem based on another one of the senses such as sight, smell or taste.

12:25 – 1:25

Lunch Time

1:25 – 1:45

Golden Time

In Golden Time today we are going to be completing a construction activity. We would like you to use a variety of construction equipment (including Lego, Meccano, wooden blocks and K’nex) to create a bridge. The bridge must be strong enough to push a small toy car over or a Lego character. You can choose to make your bridge out of one construction item such as Lego or if you would like to use more than one that is fine. We can’t wait to see what your bridge looks like.

If you require any help or assistance please do not hesitate to contact us on the Class Dojo page or on our school Facebook page.

Have a great weekend and stay safe.
