Friday 27th March 2020

Good morning,

I hope everyone is well.  You have done some fantastic work this week and I would like to say a massive thank you to all the parents are carers for supporting thier children.  Also, thank you for sending the photographs in. I have included all of them on the web page. The link can be found from the main Nursery page.  I hope that the children like to see thier own pictures on the site and that it might motivate them.  I have awarded superstar dojo points to everyone who has sent in pictures and there will be prizes given out when we eventually return to school.

As always I can be contacted on class dojo or by emailing EYFS@theatlasfederation.co.uk

Kind Regards,

Mr Leese

Phonics

Remember to view the speed sound session from Ruth Miskin at 9.30am.  The link to the tutorial is further down the page.  Ruth’s lesson is available on youtube throughout the day so if you miss the 9.30am slot you can view it later but each lesson is only available for 24hours once it has been broadcast.

View Alphablocks Series 1 episode 5 – again the link is lower down the page.  I have received pictures of children watching Alphablocks and the feedback that I have received is that the children like the series.

Also, check out the Mister Teach videos that have been recommended by Nathan.

Literacy

Go on a listening walk and see what you can hear. This can be completed in your garden. If you do not have a garden, could the children stand near the window and listen, or listen for sounds in the house.

Maths

Cut out different 2d shapes out of paper and ask the children to make a picture using the shapes.   2d shapes are flat shapes such as a square, circle, rectange, triangle.

See the link below to the number counting song.  This is one that we use in school and the children really enjoy it.

Arts, Crafts and Understanding of the World

Look on https://switchzoo.com/ to play games about different animals and find out more information about where the animals live.

Physical Development

Join Joe Wicks for his daily PE lesson at 9am.  The link to Joe’s youtube chanel is further down the page.   The lesson is live at 9am but I think it is available to view on youtube later if you miss it.

Check out the link below to the dough disco.   If you have got some playdoh it is a great way to strengthen muscles in the fingers and hands which helps greatly with writing.

Story Time

Yesterday I shared the video of Meg's Cake and there were some questions to answer after watching the story.  Today I have included the answers.

1) How many witches went to visit Meg?

4 witches came to visit Meg.

2) What was wrong with the first cake that Meg made?

The cake was far too small to feed everyone.

3) What was wrong with the second cake?

The second cake was far too big.

4) What does the word ‘tiny’ mean?

The word 'tiny' means small.

5) What is your favourite type of cake?

There is no right or wrong answer to this one!

Story for Friday

Kelsi sent in a superb model of a ladybird that she had made so today's story is about a very lazy ladybird.  I hope you enjoy it, but as always, there are some questions to think about after watching it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Adyr1MpwXSg

1) What did the lazy ladybird like to do all day and all night?

2) What was it that she didn't know how to do?

3) Why could the ladybird not sleep in the kangaroo's pouch?

4)  What did the tiger keep doing that kept the ladybird awake?

5)  What happened in the end that made her fly?

6) What does the word 'lazy' mean?

7) Which was you favourite animal in the story?

8) Did you like the story?  Why / why not?

You might want to see the link below to find out some information about the animals mentioned in the  story.
