Enrichment Reading for Pleasure

Our timetable for the day is above which will show you when each lesson will be. We will stick to these video times for the forseeable which should help you plan your day around this.

We will continue with the 3 video lessons a day, there will be 15 minutes of input and then the rest of the time will be your own to go and do the activities.

Please send your work into me via Dojo, Google Classroom or email (joakley@theatlasfederation.co.uk).

We will be marking this work and using it as proof of attendance for each day.

Feel free to watch newsround each day to keep in touch with what is going on in the world.

Maths

Seeing as Wednesday's area and perimeter measuring activity was so well received, today I would like you to explore the items in your home. Find 5 items that have a rectangle as one of their faces e.g. a book. You may want to use the same items as before.

Using a ruler, measure the item and work out its volume. Then send the answers to me. Make sure you lay your working out clearly. E.g. Book = 15.5cm x 7cm x 3cm. Volume = 15.5cm x 7 cm x 3cm = 325.5cm3

Don't forget to use your gelosian method to work it out as you may have some difficult numbers to work with!

Below are some objects you may want to measure.

English

I'm going to go through some SPaG in our Google Classroom Meeting. Again, make sure you are logged in and ready to write by 10:20am as we will again only have 15 minutes of live video. You will need your plain exercise book ready with something to write with.

It is important in our writing to vary our sentence starters, this is particularly important when strating new paragraphs. If our paragraphs start with exactly the same phrases, it can get a little repetitive and boring.

Our paragraphs can be linked using adverbials which give a little more context to our writing.

Looking at page 16 in our SPaG books, identify the adverbials and select the most effective one for the context.

After that, we are going to look at adverbials in our reading books. If you do not have a current reading book at home, simply log in to bug club and choose a book from there. Any problems logging in, please let me know.

Adverbials can be split into 3 types. Adverbials of time, place and number.

An adverbial of time tells you when something happens e.g. the next day.

An adverbial of place tells you where something happens e.g. in the garden.

An adverbial of number tells you the order something happens e.g. first, finally, next etc.

Read a chapter in your book and identify all of the adverbials of time, place and number. Make sure you find at least 15 adverbials in total, you may find less adverbials of number! There is a table created for you on Google Classroom to fill in.
