Friday 15th May 2020

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your continued hard work. I hope that everyone is well and keeping safe.  Here are some activity suggestions for today.  For some technical reason I have not been able to put the videos on the actual page today, but the links will take you to them.   I can be contacted on class dojo or by emailing EYFS@theatlasfederation.co.uk

Thank you once again for all your hard work and messages.

Kind Regards,

Mr Leese

Activity Suggestions for Today

Phonics and Literacy

Ruth Miskin is delivering a speed sounds lesson on her Youtube channel at 9.30am.    The programme developed by Ruth Miskin (RWI) is the one that the children will use in Reception.  It teaches children sounds and blending skills that are vital for reading.

View Alphablocks. – The link is lower down the page.  I know that many of you have been enjoying the Alphablocks series.  Again, this teaches the sounds and blending skills needed for early reading.

Have a go at writing lower case ‘w’.  See the video below.  It is good to see that so many of you are trying so hard with your writing.  Well done to you all.

Continue working on blending skills; a vital skill is mastering reading.  Have a go at the blending game to work on those skills.  I am sure you will do well.

You may want to visit ‘Teach Your Monster to Read’.   This is an interactive game/app that can be downloaded to a computer for free.  Choose the Reception/Pre-Kindergarten section 1 to learn sounds and when children become confident with these, move on to section 2 ‘Fun with Words’.

Here is the next lesson from Oak Academy relating to the story of Hansel and Gretel.  Today Miss Hughes continues with the story writing.  She has got some good ideas for Nursery children to do for their writing.

Remember to keep trying to write your name.  Little and often is the best way to learn / remember how to do it.

Maths

Visit the maths counting game – have a go and see how well you can do.

Check out the latest maths lesson from Oak Academy which looks at finding a number that is one more than a given number up to 20.

Arts, Crafts and Understanding of the World

Earlier in the week we were learning about animals that live in the rainforest.  Today the lesson from Oak Academy is all about making a minibeast.  It would be great to see some of the pictures of the minibeasts that you make.   There is also a lesson ‘My Rainforest’ that I have included the link for.

You may want to go and explore your garden to see if you can find any minibeasts.  You will probably find them hiding under rocks, stones and logs.  Be careful with any that you find and put them back where you found them. You may want to take a photograph of any that you find and send it to me – it would be great to see.  When you have finished make sure you wash your hands.

Physical Development

The PE lessons by Joe Wicks can be accessed on You Tube.  I know that many of you have been enjoying these.  They are a great work out to get you active.

Visit the link below to Boogie Beebies ‘Hey Monkey’.  Yesterday the Boogie Beebies were doing a dinosaur dance.  If you fancy having a go at the dinosaur dance again, you can find the link from yesterday’s work.

Story Time

Twist & Hop Minibeast Bop – check out the story.  It links nicely to the ‘making a minibeast’ activity above.
