This is the front cover of our new book!

Have a look at it and answer these questions:

  1. Do you think our book will be fiction (a made up story) or non-fiction (about real events, people or places)?
  2. What clues on the cover tell you that this book is fiction or non-fiction?
  3. What do you think this book will be about?

This is the blurb of the book.  Read through it and answer these questions:

  1. From looking at the writing and the picture on the book, can you name all of the characters that you know will be in the book?
  2. Does the blurb change your prediction about what will happen in the story?

 

 

Now read to the end of Page 11 and then answer these questions!

  1. What are the first four words of the story? pg. 4
  2. What other stories do you know which start this way? pg. 4
  3. Where is the story set?pg. 4
  4. Why do you think Mrs Rabbit tells her children that they are not allowed to go into Mr McGregor's garden? pg. 5
  5. Why do you think Mrs Rabbit reminds the children about what happened to their father when he went into the garden? pg. 6
  6. Do you think they will listen to their mother's warning? pg. 6
  7. What does the word 'mischief' mean? Please write a sentence using the word. pg. 7
  8. What do we know about the personalities of the different rabbits? pg. 9-10
  9. Do you think that Peter thought carefully about whether or not he should go into Mr McGregor's garden? What words tell you this? pg. 10
  10. Are you surprised Peter did this? Why or why not?
  11. What do you think will happen next in the story?
