Maths

Key Stage Two Maths Year 5 Targeted Question Book – page 44 and 45

Metric Units

Google Classroom at 9:10 for the first 15 minutes (Click the Meet Link). Please attend.

We briefly touched on this in yesterday’s maths session however I know we need to do some more work on metric measurements. These are the measurements we use now, these are centimetres, millimetres, litres, millilitres, grams, kilograms etc.

When you convert between different measurements you need to bear in mind how many of each fit into the measurement you are converting them too. Take a look below for some helpful conversion charts to show you what you need to do when converting between the different measurements – we will talk this through during our live lesson.

10:30-10:50

Quiet Reading Time – Bug Club

Find a comfortable spot for your reading or you may want to find an unusual place for a change. Ask your adult to send me a picture of you reading in your spot or tell me where it is on Class Dojo.

Make sure you have your reading record signed by an adult at home to show that you have kept up your reading and send over a picture on Class Dojo, this will earn you more dojos.

10:50 – 11:50

English- Comprehension

Comprehension Book One (the one with the train on) – Pages 26 & 27 – Hiding Out

Comprehension Book One (the one with Stonehenge on- if you have this one) – Pages 14 & 15– The Demon Headmaster

Google Classroom at 10:50am for the first 15 minutes. (Click on the Meet Link). Please attend.

We will be sharing the Priests, Temples and Sacrifices text that I have attached below during our live lesson. This is about the Mayan priests, the temples that they built for rituals and sacrifices.

After the live lesson, take your time in reading the text – remember in class we would normally read it through a couple of times so we are clear on where the information is and what the text is about.

11:50 – 12:30

Express Yourself

Now it’s time to take yourself away from your screens, whether that’s the laptop, tablet, phone or games console. Make some time to complete 2 or more of the activities below.

Option 1

Can you spot any signs of spring? How many different signs can you find and what are they? Take photos of anything you find or write them down in your book.

Option 2

Draw a comic strip of a fun time you have had. Who was there? What did you do?

Option 3

Draw a gift that you would like to give to someone special – what is it and who are you giving it to?

Option 4

Find something energetic to do for at least 30 minutes. Try to make sure that you increase your heart rate. You could try running, practising some sporting skills or testing your fitness.

1:15 – 2:35

Art

For this Art lesson it is time to Express Yourself – it is completely up to you to show how you feel and your thoughts through a piece of art – start with a blank page and create something you feel represents you. It could be a page full of colour to show your emotions or lots of pictures to show what you are thinking about, you might not even want to create your art piece on paper– I am leaving this one completely up to you. Go and Express Yourself!

2:35 – 2:45
