Thousandths

Google Classroom at 9:10 for the first 15 minutes (Click the Meet Link). Please attend.

For this lesson you will need to use your place value knowledge, particularly your decimal place value knowledge.

When writing numbers as fractions, as we have done previously think about the value of the number it is giving you.

If it was 4 thousandths, your fraction would be 4/1000

If it was 84 thousandths, your fraction would be 84/1000

When you are writing decimal numbers on a number line be careful to look at the numbers that are already on the line.

Remember when converting fractions to decimals you need to look at the value of the numerator and where this should be placed in your decimal number. For example, 26/1000 the 6 should be in the thousandth column. 0.026.

Quiet Reading Time – Bug Club

Find a comfortable spot for your reading or you may want to find an unusual place for a change. Ask your adult to send me a picture of you reading in your spot or tell me where it is on Class Dojo.

Make sure you have your reading record signed by an adult at home to show that you have kept up your reading and send over a picture on Class Dojo, this will earn you more dojos.

Pronouns and Relative Pronouns

Google Classroom at 10:50am for the first 15 minutes. (Click on the Meet Link). Please attend.

Pronouns – remember these are used to replace nouns to avoid repetition, this will also make your writing flow better.

Here are some examples of pronouns that you might use in your writing.

When it comes to relative pronouns they are words like ‘who’ and ‘which’. They are used to join parts of sentences together. Take a look at some examples below:

Enrichment

I know some of you enjoyed this last time we were in lockdown and you’ve all earned a treat this week. Time for a spot of baking – remember those delicious mug cakes we made online previously? Well, they’re back! Please find the recipe below.

Alternatively, if you haven’t got the ingredients available to you I would like you to spend some time designing your ultimate celebration cake. It could be for any celebration you want – birthday, Christmas, Easter, a special family date, Halloween – anything you want to celebrate really.

We will continue to read some more of our class read ‘Skellig’ – this session will take place on Google Classroom. I will be reading Chapters 28, 29 and 30 during this session. I wonder what we will find out about Michael, the garage and the new house.
