Today’s Time Table
*Children’s Mental Health Week*
This week’s timetable will look a bit different, as it is Children’s Mental Health Week there will be some different activities each day that give you time to ‘Express Yourself’ through a variety of activities as this year’s focus is about expressing yourself.
Each day I will provide 4 different activities that you can do that will take you away from a screen and give you time to do something practical, spend some time conversing with family and giving you some time for your own mental health.

9:00 – Assembly
To kick off Children’s Mental Health Week there is an assembly that has been produced by Place2Be, a mental health charity. The theme of this week centres on ‘Express Yourself’. Self-expression is about communicating your individuality. This can be through your clothes, hairstyle, or through art forms like dance, writing, art or music.
Take a look at the assembly below (this will be available throughout the day so don’t worry if you miss it).

Angles and Sides of Rectangles
Google Classroom at 9:10 for the first 15 minutes (Click the Meet Link). Please attend.
This lesson will need your shape, measurement, angles and perimeter knowledge. When you are looking at shapes particularly rectangles you need to look at the sides that have the same lengths.
You will need to use your knowledge of finding missing angles during this session too. Remember that when you see a right angle it is 90o, you will need to subtract the angle you know from 90o to be able to find the missing angle.
Example:
When finding the missing angle from this I know that I am working with a right angle (90o) so I need to subtract 62 from 90.
90 – 62 = 28
My missing angle is 28o
I can check this by adding 28 and 62 together to check it makes 90o.
Perimeter
When you are finding perimeter remember this is the outside of the shape – it’s the measurement around the shape. For today’s work you are asked to find missing measurements from the perimeter.
When you are told the perimeter and one length of the rectangle you need to carry out some calculations to find the other 2 sides lengths.
Example
If the perimeter of this rectangle is 240m and one of the sides is 30m then you can find the rest of the lengths. Length C is going to be the same as the 30m side as these are equal. Now you know 2 sides and these add up to 60m – 30+ 30 =60.
Now you know these you need to subtract 60 from 240 (the whole perimeter), this will give you 180 remaining. You have 2 sides that are the same so you need to divide 180 by 2 which would make a and b both 90m.
Once you have completed your book pages take a look at the BBC Bitesize page below to refresh your memories on how to find perimeter of rectangles. You will have already used this skill today and I'm sure you've done a great job.

Quiet Reading Time – Bug Club
Find a comfortable spot for your reading or you may want to find an unusual place for a change. Ask your adult to send me a picture of you reading in your spot or tell me where it is on Class Dojo.
Make sure you have your reading record signed by an adult at home to show that you have kept up your reading and send over a picture on Class Dojo, this will earn you more dojos.
10:50 – 11:50
English – Skellig Based Activity
Google Classroom at 10:50am for the first 15 minutes. (Click on the Meet Link).
For this lesson you are going to focus on someone who was mentioned in Chapter 38 – Persephone. She was a Greek goddess who was the daughter of Demeter and the granddaughter of Zeus. Take a look at The Story of Persephone below and using the sheet that is also attached carry out your own research into who Persephone was and why her story is so important in Greek Mythology. You can either write your information in the sheet provided or present it in your blue lined books. I will give you some information for this activity during our live lesson.
11:50 – 12:30
Express Yourself
Now it’s time to take yourself away from your screens, whether that’s the laptop, tablet, phone or games console. Make some time to complete 2 or more of the activities below.
Option 1
Draw around your hand and fill each finger with different things you are good at.
Option 2
Create a playlist of songs that represent you and make you feel good. Share your playlist with those at home so they can use it too. Which songs have you chosen and why?
Option 3
A-Z of Emotions – Write down the letters from the alphabet and see if you can identify an emotion for each letter. If you can’t do all the letters try and write down as many as you possibly can.
Option 4
Smiling Challenge – Draw a picture of a big smiling face and fill it with pictures and words of all the things that make you happy.
Take your time to make these nice and bright and think about how you feel whilst you are doing these activities.

As it is Children’s Mental Health Week it is important to exercise as this is also another great factor for helping your mental health out. A great way to calm yourself and have some mindfulness time is to do some yoga.

Miss Wall Reads
We will continue to read some more of our class read ‘Skellig’ – this session will take place on Google Classroom. I will be reading Chapters 42, 43 and 44 during this session. We are nearly at the end of our book - I wonder what they will decide to call the baby and where Skellig has gone.
